Don't forget dessert as you're planning for this weekend's Super Bowl festivities! These chocolate covered football Oreos make an easy to grab game day sweet for even the pickiest fan. Really, you can't go wrong with Oreos and chocolate!
Preparation is simple, melt chocolate melts in microwave safe bowl in 30 minute intervals until smooth. Dip cookies in chocolate, allow to set, and use contrasting chocolate color to pipe details. Don't have any chocolate melts on hand? No problem, simply add a tablespoon of shortening to a bag of chocolate chips to achieve desired consistency.
Since I wasn't thrilled about either team's appearance in the big game this year, I went for a neutral XLV decoration. These could be easily customized to show off your loyalty to your favorite team or to highlight the sweet rivalry of both teams. {Footballs also look nice when dipped in white chocolate and decorated with your team's colors as seen here with my TCU cookies}.

When my Detroit Lions make it to the Super Bowl sometime in the next 10 years, I'm all over this!
Such cute cookies! Great suggestion on the shortening in the chocolate chips, I was struggling with dipping candies last night! Now I know!
so adorable! i'm not a football fan, but i might have to start watching now
Those look yummy! GO STEELERS!
What a great use for the special football Oreos :) These are too cute and present as if they were tons more work than they seem to be! I like it!!
Love this! I have never seen football Oreos before!
Go Steelers! :)
Wow,how good idea! Excellent!
Meh... I'd eat pork rinds and drink beer first and leave all these delicious, sweet, yummy, and addicting chocolate to the womenfolk... coz I'm a Man!
Ooh, all that chocolate would be gone by the time I'm through with watching the game. Though my dentist in la will certainly be cringing at the damage I've done to my dentures.
These are perfect snacks when watching a football game. But I need to eat sweets in moderation since I just undergone root canal treatment last week.
