kitchen genius

IMG_8618

My love of all things food definitely came from my mother's side of the family. My mother in particular has always been not only a talented baker, but a very creative one. Case in point: these ginger snaps. Do you see how incredibly thin they are? Three guesses as to how she got them wafer thin...

Ginger Snaps
Give up?
A tortilla press.
Genius.

How many hands just hit foreheads while saying "why didn't I think of that?" Next time you need uniformly paper thin wafer cookies, go ahead and bust out your tortilla press and a couple of sheets of parchment paper. Your cookies will bake up evenly and extra crispy with this gem of a tip. Thanks, mom!

That is really cool. We love ginger snaps around here. Now I want a tortilla press.

Just make sure the dough is well-chilled when pressing it out.

Brilliant!  I think this totally justifies me buying a tortilla press, seeing as it's not just a single-purpose kitchen tool anymore... right? :)   Paper-thin gingersnaps totally rock my world.

Definitely justified. =) I think it would make great paper thin chocolate cookies too... yep, definitely no longer single-purpose!
